Mississippi casinos are not threatened by the lottery legalization

Casino Industry is accrued with many different concerns, but one field does not shatter its well-being - a state lottery. The lottery is not viewed as an insatiable source of large profits and hence is not powerful enough to become a threat for Mississippi casino executives. Since the majority of people are primarily preoccupied with everything that has to do with tax issues and hurricane protection, the lottery remains on the lighter side of the agenda.

The president of Treasure Bay Casino stated that gambling industry would most probably remain unaffected by the state lottery. The general manager of the Silver Slipper Casino, John Ferrucci also agreed that if that is the only way to patch the deficits, leaving the casino taxes unaltered then lottery should be integrated. The executive director of the Gaming Commission, Larry Gregory expressed his doubts on this issue saying that Lotterry would not do to seam the budget tatters, as it is not powerful enough to create windfalls that would beget new jobs and real estate developments. He later noted that the government is to determine whether a lottery should be legalized or not.

A lottery already exists in Tennessee, Louisiana and Florida. Though Gamblers at Coast and Tunica casinos mostly arrive from out of states, Mississippians would be able to purchase lottery tickets at grocery and convenience stores.
