According to a survey recently conducted by XTN Data, a research consultancy firm, only 20% of people in the UK believe that the authorities invest enough effort in regulating online casinos. The news comes on the verge of the implementation of the Gambling Act next year, which will legalize the launch of UK-based Internet casino sites for the first time.
The survey questioned as many as 1,000 Internet users to get their views on casino gambling, focusing on where they played and what they thought of the gaming industry. The survey also discovered that over a third of the respondents thought that gambling sites based in foreign countries were less reliable than if they would be based in the UK. In addition, XTN Data found out that online sports betting sites are the worst in preventing minors' access.
The survey also found that, while people originally intended to use the Internet for more intensive gambling, over a half of the respondents admitted that they are not familiar with the rules of most casino games, and that the majority of online casino sites are not successful in teaching them. Greig Harper, owner of XTN Data, was quoted as saying, "As online gambling becomes more mainstream gaming operators need to do everything they can to attract new users including teaching them basic strategies for games." |
