Vermont Teen, Missing for Two Years, Allegedly Seen Playing Blackjack in Atlantic City

As many as 50 people gathered several days ago at Lincoln Park in Enosburg, Vermont, to participate in a candlelight vigil in honor of missing local teen Brianna Maitland. The past weekend marked the two-year anniversary of the young woman's sudden disappearance. Katie Manning, Maitland's high-school friend, was reported as saying that not knowing where her friend is and with whom has been extremely hard for her family and friends.

Police recently got a lead in their investigation of Maitland's disappearance. The missing teen may have turned up at Caesars Atlantic City Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. Ceiling-mounted surveillance cameras at the casino caught the image of a blackjack-playing young woman, who, according to police, may have been the 19-year-old Maitland.

The videotape was obtained from the casino after a man, who lives near Maitland's hometown, returned home from a trip to Atlantic City and contacted Vermont State Police to inform them that he saw a woman who looked like Maitland at the casino. However, since her face is only partly visible, neither police nor the teen's parents have been able to confirm the identity of the female blackjack player on the tape. Maitland was 17 when she vanished after leaving her workplace in March, 2004.
