In a move meant to improve the ties between poker players and administrators, Harrah's has announced the formation of a Player Advisory Panel of professional poker players. Six of poker's best known and most successful personalities have been appointed to a one-year term of duty to act as representatives on behalf of poker players at Harrah's World Series of Poker (WSOP). Harrah's announcement signals the company's agreement that poker players should have a collective voice in terms of helping the prestigious poker tournaments run smoothly.
While Harrah's will still have the final say in terms of administrative decisions, Howard Lederer, Chris “Jesus" Ferguson, Daniel Negreanu, Scott Nguyen, Jennifer Harman, and Robert Williamson III will be consulted in all matters that have to do with enhancing players' experiences at WSOP events. The panel, to which a non-professional player will also be appointed soon, will be in close contact with Harrah's executives and poker officials to provide suggestions for tournament improvement and general player feedback.
Initial reactions from professional players have been quite positive, commending Harrah's desire to both promote the World Series of Poker and preserve the game's integrity through close ties with the players themselves. In the words of Daniel Negreanu, "Now that players have a voice, I believe we'll see changes that will be in their best interests as a whole."
